TuS Saxonia Münster 1883

About the club

TuS Saxonia Münster von 1883 e.V. is one of the region's oldest sports clubs, with over 1,300 members. The club was established in 1945 through the merger of three predecessor clubs: Turnverein Westfalia (founded September 29, 1883), Turnverein Jahn (1897), and DJK Saxonia 09 (1909). Following the destruction of its sports grounds in air raids on October 28, 1944, the membership rebuilt the facilities after World War II. The club stands for diversity, prevention, tradition, and respectful interaction.

Offering

• Volleyball (Indoor): Twelve teams ranging from U14 to adult level (Women's 1st team in the Regionalliga; Men's 1st team Oberliga champions)
• Beach volleyball: Two sand courts (Markusplatz and t'witte zand) since 2020; regular training sessions and tournaments
• Additional departments: Football (men, women, youth since 1948), tennis, badminton, boule
• Youth development: U20, U18, U16, U14 teams in both male and female categories; partnership with SV Mauritz
• Events: Tournaments, social events, beach volleyball C-cups, WVV beach tournaments

The sports facility was constructed in 1927 on a former landfill site and features playing fields, running tracks, and jumping/throwing facilities. Two beach volleyball sand courts have been available since 2020. The clubhouse is available for private event rentals.

Worth knowing

The club regularly hosts regional and national tournaments. In March 2026, TuS Saxonia hosted the West German U20 Volleyball Championships. The U17 girls' team won the district cup championship in 2025/26.
